Everyman is a radio host living in downtown Toronto, he is well paid but lives a mundane life, often finding dangerous things to fill in the monotony (ie driving over the speed limit on the freeway at 3am.) Past his customer service face in the workforce, he is rather socially constipated and aloof.

After being reached out to by Vanitas who bribes him with interview material on a high profile local case, Everyman agrees to meet up with him, which escalates from the two bonding and meeting up frequently after that fact. At one point the two sleep with one another, Everyman is unaware that he is fuelling Vanitas' bizarre fixation with him.

Everyman begins to detach from his own humanity and views himself in third person, viewing himself more as a machine programmed to work. He hallucinates his flesh melting into steel and being replaced by wire and cogs. He frequently gaslights himself into believing that he is wholly a robot. It threatens his career and he ends up being extremely misanthropic towards other people in particular, eventually wandering down a path of extreme body-modification.
